Description : You should learn which errors to avoid if gardening is a new thing for you. If you perhaps mess up, you do not have to feel as if it is a fiasco, as you can generally fix things immediately or even during the following season. Yet, similar to the muddles we will be talking about in this article, if you do some research and plan ahead, you should be able to skirt a lot of the mistakes, even as an amateur gardener.

The main problem that most gardeners have when they start out is growing too much at once - this includes flowers and herbs. It really does take a lot of effort to keep everything growing properly, so keep that in mind you want your garden to look as beautiful as you have imagined it. Another thing to keep in mind is each plant needs its own space, and some plants cannot grow with others. Do you want to successful garden? Start small! Otherwise, it may be too much for you to handle. Anyone that has planted a garden for years understands that limiting what you do allows you to grow your garden well. All plants have different requirements, and fewer plants that you have will allow you to stay away from over diversity.

Without water, a garden will die. Unfortunately, this is something that a lot of gardeners don't pay sufficient attention to and their gardens suffer. What is there to know about watering? Well, not every plant has the same moisture requirements as every other plant, so you need to keep plants with different water requirements separated. How often you water your plants will also depend on your local climate, and how much rain you get in any given season. It's a good idea to have a soil tester that tells you how much moisture your soil contains. If you use a soil tester, there will be no doubt about when it's watering time. Most plants are healthiest when the soil is moist, but not too wet. You can water too much and this can be as damaging to your plants as not watering enough.

One of the easiest mistakes to make is not knowing the condition of your soil. If your soil is poor, your plants will not grow like they should. When your soil is healthy, your plants will also be healthy. Take the time to test the pH of your soil before you plant so you will know if you have to balance your soil for acidity or alkalinity. You can use a pH test kit to find out the acid/alkaline balance of your soil. They are available at gardening centers and nurseries. The remedies for unhealthy soil include adding fertilizer or whatever chemicals are needed to bring it into balance. Aside from that, you can buy a load of good garden soil from local sources. If you want your garden to stay healthy, and flourish, it's a good idea to compost your garden or add fertilizer regularly.

To avoid all of the common mistakes, especially those made by beginning gardeners, do your due diligence before planting this year. Anyone that has a garden knows how much entertainment it can provide, which can sometimes be less by focusing too much on what can go wrong. If you want to have fun gardening, realize you are going to make mistakes and deal with them as they occur. The important thing is that you learn from everything you do, so each season your garden is a little healthier.
